It was 1979 and Steve was a teacher at St Thomas' Blackburn and was opening discussing in the staff room how he had found a house he wanted to buy and had made an offer. He liked the house but the colour scheme was horrendous as there was bright purple carpets and walls.

His offer was accepted and it was many months later when a teacher approached him in the staff room and told Steve it was their house he had purchased and that it her mother-in-laws idea on the colour scheme.

It is safe to say both were a little embarrassed and the first thing Steve and his wife Barb did was paint the house before settling in!
